STATEMENT

I am a mixed media artist residing in the Bethesda, MD. I produce abstract, experimental, and gestural works that come to life spontaneously through a range of deliberately arranged contrasting materials, shapes, colors, and lines. I employ a mixed media approach and treat my surfaces with multi-layered planes. My work is conceptual as it constantly investigates the visual and spatial relationships between conflicting and

interdependent elements.

Working from a place of uncertainty, my process reflects the perpetual tension between destruction and construction. Erasure is central to my process of transforming the haunting memories of

the past, just as excavating is central to reconstructing history.

Mostly influenced by primitive art and ancient artifacts, my paintings regardless of the media are reminiscent of archaeological excavations, exploring the mysterious layers and hidden connections of the mind. Some of my paintings looks old, rustic, and mysterious.

This is an exciting new period in my life as an artist and I feel as though I am conducting an archaeological dig to find my archaic home and come to terms with the past and a present and future always in process.

The end is the means or there is no end, just a multiple of beginnings and infinite choices.
