PAINTINGS

Working from a place of uncertainty, my process reflects the perpetual tension between destruction and construction. Erasure is central to my process of transforming the haunting memories of the past, just as excavating is central to reconstructing history. Issues of chaos and clarity abound in my abstract work. I go back and forth embracing the freedom of pure chaos, but also the discipline of deliberate mark making. Success or failure has little to do with what is recognizable. My work is always at risk of being erased, which parallels the fear of loss in real life.
